In mid-2017, my Dad had a heart attack and exactly one week later he had a stroke. Both times happened early in the morning, my Dad couldn’t speak or move to call my Mom for help, even though my Mom slept near my Dad, both times my Mom detected him early and bring him to the hospital for emergency treatment within 30 minutes, so my Dad did not encounter dangerous complications.

The first time he had a heart attack, after 4 days in the hospital, my Dad recovered and walked normally and was discharged from the hospital. Because I have the ability of a healer, I recognized the causes and advised him to adjust his lifestyle, but my Mom and my Dad thought that’s not involved. Later, when I studied the Nutrition and Cardiovascular Diseases course, I understood that the causes I had previously recognized were the risk factors of strokes and heart attacks. Because my Dad did not adjust his lifestyle and diet, exactly 3 days after being discharged from the hospital, he had a stroke. After this time, I even more firmly advised my Dad to adjust his lifestyle and my Dad also realized how dangerous it was to his health after 2 hospitalizations, so he agreed to change according to my advice.

One month after my Dad had the heart attack and the stroke, I took him for the health check-up, the brain CT scan and the carotid artery ultrasound, and discovered that he had atherosclerotic plaques in the carotid artery near his heart, causing carotid stenosis 27% and atherosclerotic plaques in the carotid artery in the neck causing carotid stenosis 50%. The doctor advised that there is no need to place a stent at that time. So when I got home, I searched for a remedy to clean blood vessels and atherosclerotic plaques in the arteries and found two remedies, but I only chose to use one remedy which is benign and the ingredients used to make the herbal medicine which are good spices available in the family’s kitchen. I gave this remedy to Mom to make the herbal medicine for Dad to drink. Until now, my Dad still takes this herbal medicine in a month every year.

Thanks to adjusting his lifestyle and diet combined with taking medication as prescribed by the doctor, my Dad has so far not had another heart attack or stroke. If my Dad doesn’t adjust his lifestyle and diet, he will be at risk of getting it a third or fourth time… and after each relapse, the condition will get worse and more difficult to recover. Last year, my Dad had a follow-up health check-up and had tests done on cholesterols, blood sugar, heart, liver, and kidney function. After getting the results, everything was normal and blood pressure was also normal, the doctor told my Dad that ‘I wish my health was as good as yours and my Dad replied to the doctor that the doctor’s health must be healthier than me. Then the doctor said that I also have many illnesses’. Every time, my Dad gets a follow-up health check-up result and do tests on cholesterols, blood sugar, heart, liver, and kidney function, when he gets home, Dad shows me the test results and medicines. Based on that, I advise him to adjust his diet and how to take and use additional supplements for better results. This year, my Dad is 71 years old.

After each course on nutrition and cardiovascular diseases; preventing cardiovascular diseases, I guide my Dad how to manage risk factors that cause strokes and heart attacks more completely. There are some factors my Dad practicing 80-100%, some risk factors are 50-60%, there are 2 risk factors that are 30-40% such as Dad still smokes 5-6 cigarettes each day and drinks 2 cans of beer every day, however, when I calculate all the risk factors, the probability of causing a stroke or a heart attack is not high. I also did not force my Dad to quit smoking or drinking beer, I just advised him to reduce smoking and drinking beer slowly to the limit that he could do it.

Here is a photo of my Dad and I took when we travelled to Quy Nhon city, Vietnam, after 7 months my Dad had a stroke and a heart attack.
